Get ready for a musical number to beat all musical numbers. Because with news that Neil Patrick Harris will host the 2015 Academy Awards, we think he’ll even have Billy Crystal beat. (Sorry, Billy.)

NPH posted a video on Instagram which had him circling the last item in his bucket list — which just happened to say “Host the Oscars.”

It’s been quite the month for Harris, and we’re only halfway through it! He has a pivotal role in the No. 1 new movie, Gone Girl, he just released his autobiography (aptly titled Choose Your Own Autobiography) and now this.

“It is truly an honour and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards,” Harris said in an official release from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. “I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.”

Speaking of Ellen, think he’ll be able to top what she accomplished earlier this year — entertaining 43 million viewers (the most-watched ceremony in a decade) and posting the most retweeted selfie ever?

Heck, yeah! This is Barney Stinson, we’re talking about.

barney

All right, all right, the man who played him.

We know he’s capable of so much. Like crazy acrobatics when he hosted the Emmys in 2013…

neil_emmys

He has a Ph.D in Horribleness.

Though some might say awesomeness.

He can sing.

He can dance.

neil_dancing

He can act.

But most importantly, he can host.

The Tonys, Emmys and now, the Oscars. Next up, the Grammys? Yes, please. This needs to happen.

Think NPH will kill it at the Oscars? Watch the 87th Academy Awards on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. (ET) on CTV to find out.
