It was exactly one month ago that Harry and Meghan were married. Happy anniversary, kids! It’s a time they should be enjoying, being all loved up and newlywed-y and tending to royal duties in between. But, instead, the couple are dealing with the aftermath of Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, speaking to the press once again.
Meghan has only spoken publicly about her father once — in that statement she released two days before her wedding, revealing that Thomas wouldn’t be walking her down the aisle. At the time she called the situation “deeply personal” and asked for “understanding and respect to be extended” to her dad during the difficult time; one would think that after all he put her through, Thomas would’ve respected her enough to STFU. But, nope. He let it all out on Good Morning Britain, detailing private conversations he had with both his daughter and son-in-law, revealing why he faked those paparazzi pics and basically spilling beans he shouldn’t be spilling. And, naturally, he got paid for all the beans-spilling.
According to the Daily Mail, Thomas received £7,500 (just over $13,000) for his satellite sit-down with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid. But Lainey Gossip is reporting a much higher pay day for Markle, and it only gets more scandalous from there. Lainey’s sources claim he got paid upwards of $70,000 AND revealed the entire interview was arranged by Thomas’ other daughter and Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha. Hmm, wonder what her cut was?
What’s worse is that Kensington Palace officials had no idea the interview was even in the works, until it was too late. Yet another bombshell, just like when they learned about Thomas skipping out on the wedding a few days prior.
Oh, those Markles. They’ll do anything to profit off Meghan. Maybe Thomas is that naive and maybe this will be the last time he speaks to the media about his daughter. But probably not. It almost seems like he’s trying to give Meghan an excuse to turn away from her “family,” for good, which is probably what Samantha has been planning for all along. Because if Sam really did make the interview happen (or helped it along), then it seems like she’s willing to exploit her dad to make Meghan look like the bad guy, the evil villainess who isn’t there for her dad now that she’s a duchess. And while most of us see through Samantha’s machinations, there are many out there who are looking for an excuse to hate on Meghan — and the royal supposedly turning her back on her family seems like just the thing. But we know better than to believe what the Markles are trying to sell. Right??
