About a decade ago, Lindsay Lohan seemed like the ideal person to star in her own reality show. Her name was synonymous with trouble, her life was a mess and we all couldn’t help but wonder what she was going to do next, why was she acting out, and how did her life end up where it ended up. Perfect reality fodder. But then Lindsay got the hell out of L.A., an environment way too toxic for someone like her, tried New York for a bit, and eventually wound up across the pond where we rarely heard from her. A good thing.
La Lohan’s been in Greece for a while now (after spending time in London and Dubai) and, turns out, she’s been planning a comeback of sorts. A TV comeback. Sure, Lindsay’s appeared as herself on a few shows, co-starred on the British series Sick Note, and had that docuseries on the Oprah Winfrey Network a few years back, but this is different.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the still-untitled MTV reality show will be set at the recently opened Lohan Beach House on the Greek island of Mykonos, which just so happens to be known for its massive dance clubs and general party atmosphere. The show will follow Lohan and her staff during and after hours, adds THR.
Reality shows need drama and LiLo attracts it with ease so it’s basically the perfect situation. But, for someone with a history like Lindsay’s, is this really a good idea? Sounds a bit… dangerous, but perhaps it’s not going to be what we think. Lohan told the New York Times in June that in addition to the club on Mykonos, she’s planning on opening another in Rhodes, another island in Greece. While some aspects of the MTV show will be Vanderpump Rules-esque party times, hopefully Lindsay’s parts will be more about a woman building her Greek nightlife empire and less about her past problems that we still can’t help but associate her with.
MTV has yet to reveal official details or a premiere date, but we can’t wait. There’s just something about Lindsay — hopefully a healthy, more mature Lindsay — that we simply can’t resist.
