We’ve never won an Olympic medal, but we’re assuming it’s a pretty amazing experience. The rush of adrenaline, the pride of winning something for your country on a national stage, that piece of coveted hardware around your neck–seems like the makings of the perfect moment (or so we assume, again, we are not Olympic athletes). It’s exciting for us and we’re just sitting at home on our couches.
This weekend, a Chinese diver one-upped the medal ceremony with a little personal victory as well. Olympian, He Zi won silver at the women’s 3M Springboard Diving in Rio yesterday and her boyfriend gave her a little (read: huge and life-changing) surprise at the medal ceremony. After Zi received her silver medal, Qin Kai–fellow Olympic diver and boyfriend–got down on one knee and offered up another piece of shiny jewelry in a proposal that is not likely to be topped for at least another four years.

Zi looked stoic at first and then broke down. Considering those two milestones (an Olympic medal and marriage proposal) are pretty significant individually, she handled everything amazingly. Oh, did we mention, she said yes!
How adorable is that? The couple dated for six years and they’re even wearing matching outfits (we know they’re the Team China uniforms, but still). Match made in Olympic Diving Heaven? We think so.
‘[Qin] made a lot of promises [on the podium], but the thing that has touched me the most is that I think this is the guy I can trust for the rest of my life,’ Zi told reporters. Is that not one of the cutest things you’ve ever heard?
This is actually the second Olympic proposal in the past week. Last Monday, Brazilian Rugby player, Isadora Cerullo, was proposed to on the field by girlfriend and stadium manager, Marjorie Enya. These Olympics just keep getting cuter and cuter. Looks like there’s a lot of love in that Olympic Park.
