Reality-TV-star-turned-White-House-adviser-turned-back-to-reality-TV-star Omarosa Manigault Newman, has started making the rounds to publicize her upcoming tell-all book, Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House. While we could all imagine that she’s got some bombs to drop re: Donald Trump behaviour, she also hinted, around the middle of last week, that she had some sort of explosive recordings from her firing (which was super controversial) and her time in the administration.

Omarosa appeared on Meet the Press Sunday to release one of those teased tapes, saying that the audio would clear her name (i.e. it would prove she didn’t have a reality TV worthy outburst at the president’s Chief of Staff John Kelly). And, yup, it did.

Did it prove Omarosa didn’t yell at Kelly? Sure, during the time that was being recorded. In her interview, she made the tape out to be a bombshell that would exonerate her, vilify Kelly and prove to the world she didn’t have a meltdown. What she really accomplished is revealing to the world that she had some sort of integrity violations that led to her firing.

Nevertheless, Omarosa called the exchange between herself and Kelly “a threat” and claimed that Kelly had been looking for a reason to fire her for a while. She explained that she had an idea of what was coming when he suggested they meet in the situation room alone.

Kelly says several times during the conversation that Omarosa is being fired for integrity issues that could warrant legal action. When pressed by Chuck Todd about what those violations might have been, she challenged the White House to release the HR file citing those infractions, suggesting they are minor, especially considering the rest of the scandal-plagued staff Donald Trump has employed in the White House.

Also in the recording, Omarosa asks if the president knows that she is being fired and Kelly avoids the question, telling her not to “go down the road” and that this is a “non-negotiable discussion.” On The Today Show Monday morning, Omarosa released another recording — this one of a portion of a phone call between herself and Trump where he asks her what happened and says he had no idea she was being fired.

In Unhinged, Omarosa describes her early relationship with Donald Trump as “symbiotic,” with her giving him ratings in exchange for opportunities in business and on The Apprentice. She then goes on to call the president “racist, a bigot and a misogynist,” reveals that she has knowledge of him using the N-word and says he has “mentally declined.”

In response, the White House called the book “riddled with lies” and said that recording the interaction with John Kelly “shows a blatant disregard for [the United States’] national security.” Donald Trump also responded to reporters’ questions about Omarosa by calling her “a low-life” and then took to Twitter to call her “wacky” and remind everyone that he fired her three times on various iterations of The Apprentice.

Seems like he’s really changed his tune in the last eight months. When she left the White House last December, Trump tweeted Omarosa to thank her for her service and wish her the best. Yet more evidence that Twitter is forever.

We’ll just leave this here.
