Fans have been clamouring for a Friends reunion since the show went off the air in 2004. Several of the cast members have teased that it could happen and now, for the first time, it looks like it might really happening. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, are in talks to return for a reunion special. They'll join series co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, and let's just say if this project (IF it happens, of course) is directed by James Burrows, who helmed many Friends episodes, we'll be out of our minds and losing our senses. If talks with the actors and former showrunners do all work out, that's still only half the battle because planning around everyone's schedules is going to be another beast. But, baby steps, right? The deal may be "far from done," THR reported, but sources say the fact that all six stars haven't slammed the door on this and are actually willing to take part "is an accomplishment in and of itself." Now, just in case you were hoping this was going to be a continuation of where we left off or a 25-years-later revival of the sitcom, let us dash those dreams. It's not. Rather, it's being touted as an "unscripted reunion special" so take from that what you will.

The last Friend to talk about a reunion was Aniston during her recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she hinted at a future projects: "We would love for there to be something, but we don't know what that something is. So we're just trying. We're working on something." A few days later, Aniston told Stephen Colbert that "something is happening." Clearly, we're assuming this is that something. The cast have had mini reunions throughout the years, whether it's Matt, Jen and Courteney hanging out or Chandler and Monica letting us know that they are still happy and together after all these years, keeping rumours about the whole group coming together for more Friends content alive and well.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the show's premiere and what better way to give back to the fans (because they haven't given us enough, apparently) than for all this reunion chatter to come true? Friends is still as popular as ever (you watch stream it now at CTV Comedy) and an unscripted reunion special could be an interesting way to continue its legacy.Basically, it's proof they're still there for us.[video_embed id='1826389']RELATED: Jennifer Aniston paid tribute to 'Friends' at People's Choice Awards[/video_embed]
