We already know Taylor Swift is the world’s nicest human, but she somehow managed to top herself. OK, maybe not top; just add to the awesomeness that is Swifty.
Four-year-old Jalene Salinas from San Antonio, Tex., is battling an aggressive form of terminal brain cancer and her parents have been doing everything they could to check off each item on their daughter’s bucket list. Awful, right?
One item in particular was a bit of a tough one to make happen: Jalene wanted to dance with Swift to “Shake It Off.” Seemed like an impossible task but enter T-Swift like a ray of magical sunshine on the greyest of days — and it’s all thanks to the singer’s amazing fans.
Swifties got #ShakeItOffJalene trending on Twitter over the weekend and because Taylor is all about her fans, she was alerted of Jalene’s story. So on Monday night, the Salinas’ phone rang and of course it was Swift ready to FaceTime with the girl.
During the 20-minute (!!!) conversation, Tay told Jalene: “I’m so sorry you’re having a bad night, I’m so happy to talk to you though and I’m so happy you like ‘Shake it Off.’ You look beautiful tonight, you really do. You’re just as pretty as your pictures.”
Jalene’s mother, Jennifer Arriagas, told KENS 5 News after the surprise call, “We can check everything off and as her mom it just, it means the world to me that she got to do and see [everything] and everything is checked off now.”
Keep on fighting, Jalene and the Salinas family. Now excuse us while we go to Costco and stock up on tissue.
