Flying can be stressful. Between the long layovers, crowded spaces, anxiety-riddled passengers and all that darned luggage, there are plenty of triggers to stress out even the most seasoned of travellers.
That’s why we love the fact that certain airports have begun adding therapy dogs to help take some of that stress away. After all, what’s better than a comforting pooch to pet while you wait to board your flight?
A comforting pet pig, of course.

Meet LiLou, a spotted Juliana pig who has recently joined the Wag Brigade at the San Francisco airport. The two-year-old pig offers passengers all of the traditional comforts that a regular airport pup would, except… well, she’s a pig. And does’t that automatically make your heart melt just a little bit?
According to reports, LiLou is the first pig to be certified in the Animal Assisted Therapy Program of the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The people in charge of the Wag program knew they had to have her on their team as soon as she was certified. Usually, up to three dogs roam the halls of the airport each day, giving comfort to stressed out passengers. And now LiLou’s also scheduled to walk those halls once a month.
What we would give to sight LiLou on that special day. Apparently, she not only has a bunch of special outfits (including one that says “pet me”), but she does tricks, too. Think greeting people with her snout or a wave, or twirling and standing up on her back hooves. Heck, she even plays a toy piano and gives a little bow. How adorable is that?

Of course LiLou isn’t the only special service animal to hit up airports. Miniature horses are also helping to bring joy to passengers at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, something else we’d love to see.

Now if only Canada could get on board with this trend. We don’t need fancy pigs or mini horses, mind you–puppies and kittens would do just fine.
