The double sized Season 3 finale of How To Get Away With Murder arrived this week and finally answered the question we’ve had since the mid-season ended with the murder of our beloved Waitlist West — who dunnit?

Wes’ murderer(s) has been the topic of each episode since he was revealed as the body under the sheet. All the usual suspects have been inspected thoroughly. Could it have been a member of the Keating 5? Sociopath thug for hire Frank? Bon Bon? Anna May/Annalise? One of the Mahoneys? Even sweet Meggie got a check mark on our suspect list.

The death of Wes and his absence was felt the most during the season finale, with a distraught Laurel buying a gun, Oliver proposing to a recently freed Connor, and Asher and Michaela professing their love for one another.

Even Annalise finally let her guard down at AA and admitted that she had recently lost someone that she saw as her son. We still don’t understand why her years of worrying about Wes and feeling guilty that he was in foster care didn’t push her and her equally successful and wealthy husband Sam to adopt Wes. She knew the unlikelihood of an older boy being adopted and still didn’t feel the need to open her home to him until he was an adult and able to take care of himself. But that’s a whole other issue we have.

The crux of the finale was of course the reveal of Laurel’s father as the person who ordered a hit on Wes. Well done, HTGAWM. We did not see that coming, although it does support Connor’s theory that everything bad starts with Annalise. Remember when Annalise convinced Laurel to let her father back into her life to find Frank? We’re not saying that’s why Wes is dead, but it’s not not why Wes is dead.

The idea of Laurel’s wealthy and corrupt father wanting poor, orphaned Wes out of his daughter’s life is easy to believe. The motive makes sense for the storyline. Giving Wes’ phone to the DA in order to help frame Connor and tie up the final, house-fleeing loose end all checks out. But, we have one big issue.

Family friend and hitman Dominic was waiting inside Annalise’s house to kill Wes. INSIDE. He was there before Nate and Wes arrived, hiding in the living room and attacking Wes once Nate left. This begs the question, how did he know Wes was going to Annalise’s house?

We also don’t know how he caught Connor fleeing the house, but didn’t see Laurel walk through the front door only moments before. We’re pretty sure Laurel’s father isn’t aware she almost died in the fire or else Dominic would be buried next to Wes.

This week’s season finale sets up Season 4 for more mystery. Laurel still doesn’t know who killed Wes and we’re pretty sure the Keating 5 4 (RIP) aren’t going to go back to normal anytime soon. As for Annalise, she’s got about nine lives left.

We miss you already, Wes/Kristoff.
