We often hear about the standards of beauty when it comes to women and their appearance. Lighter skin, bigger boobs, smaller tummies and rounder butts are all the norm when it comes to speaking about what makes a woman beautiful in various countries. It isn’t often that we hear about men getting that same treatment.
But men are just as subject to beauty standards around the world as women are, except that it isn’t as often spoken about or discussed. Until now that is.
Finally, a study has taken a look at the cultural perceptions and advertising ideals that men around the world strive to achieve in order to look more socially acceptable and good-looking. And the results are pretty shocking, indeed.
Much like the female-focused “Perceptions of Perfection” that took a look at female beauty around the world last year, this project from Superdrug Online Doctor sent the same photo of one New York photographer to photoshop artists around the world. They were asked to make him look more attractive based on their cultural norms, and here are the shocking results.
