Expecting to see overall glimmer and glam this week as everyone’s in full on festive mode, much to our dismay, we were met instead with oversized bows, unflattering velvet, plain polka dots and feathers!
While some—looking at you, Keri Russell—took festive a little too far by donning oversized wrapping paraphernalia, others—like Karlie Kloss and Renée Zellweger—seemed downright confused about how to put an outfit together. Those missteps paled in comparison, however, to what our dear fashion icon Gwen Stefani chose to wear to the finale of The Voice this week. Maybe you’ll have better luck deciphering just why this outfit exists, because we’re at a loss.
Check out those looks plus more from Jason Derulo, Zara Larsson and Saoirse Ronan in this edition of Worst Looks of the Week below.
Our eyes don’t know how to process Gwen Stefani’s ‘The Voice’ outfit
Keri RussellEven though Keri is technically wearing two trending styles to the premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker—polka dots and bows—her bow seems to be swallowing her whole. She looks beautiful as ever with the smoky eye and slinky heels, but we just can’t get past the accessory that’s bigger than she is.Getty Images
Zara LarssonIs anyone else feeling peckish after seeing Zara’s top? Looking like a bunch of cinnamon buns with swirly icing, surely she could have paired her work trousers with something less edible looking?Getty Images
Michael B. JordanAre we the only ones that noticed Michael forgot to take the tag off of his sweater? Maybe he’s planning on making a return after the event? We hope not, because that and his pants are the only items helping take the focus away from his space-walking shoes.Getty Images
Renée ZellwegerNewsboy caps are a casual-yet-cool go-to accessory, however, the way Renée has hers perched atop her head is less ‘I just threw this on’ and more ‘please look at my hat.’ We suggest she tune in to Peaky Blinders for a fashion refresh.Getty Images
Jaime KingJamie showed up to the premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker dressed as a blonde Morticia Addams. The only thing separating the two is the medieval armor she decided to put around her neck.Getty Images
Patricia ClarksonAttending a special screening of Bombshell, we regret to say that this leading lady looks anything but bomb. What we can do is point out that Ms. Clarkson has matched her rouge lip perfectly to her nails.Getty Images
Saoirse RonanWe couldn’t have picked a better colour to compliment Saoirse’s complexion but the outfit itself could have used an extra set of eyes before a day full of photos. There are just way too many things going on. Lose the polka dot dress shirt and we’ll talk. Getty Images
Gwen StefaniWe’re really not sure what to make of this busy beaded minidress from Gwen. She looks ready to join the cast of The Greatest Showman or hit the Met Gala red carpet. On a more positive note, her makeup looks on point per usual.Getty Images
Karlie KlossWoops, it looks as though Karlie walked out of wardrobe and onto the red carpet in just her slip dress. We would have loved to see what she was planning on pairing with her trend-savvy pointy-toe heel.Getty Images
Molly SimsVelvet. It’s this season’s freshest fabric—it’s chic and attention-grabbing. And Molly is certainly doing the latter in this ensemble. The colour of her suit is perfect for the festive season, but the oversized feel isn’t working. It would have been best to swap the flats for something with a little lift.Getty Images
Paula PattonThe revival of the retro polka dot print is still going strong, and we’re digging it. What we’re not digging is the cap-toe ankle bootie that Paula has decided to wear with her cute midi dress—it makes the look choppy.Getty Images
Ashley GreeneIt’s nice to see Ashley out and about lately, but we’re not looking to her for any #ootd inspo, that’s for sure. Her leathers would have been better paired with a flowy blouse and some colour other than nude.Getty Images
Jason DeruloWe’d like to say Jason’s outfit is purrfect, but it looks like his fellow felines got to his pants before he made it to this Cats photocall. The movie’s over Jason, you can stop method acting now.Getty Images
Dua LipaIs Dua having a wardrobe malfunction!? Nope, that’s just part of her shimmery, peach mini for some reason.Getty Images
Bailee MadisonBailee should call in Inspector Gadget, so they can both work on solving the case of what the loops hanging out of her blazer are supposed to attach to. Go Go Gadget!Getty Images
Huda KattanUnfortunately, feather fringe doesn’t tickle our fancy, at least not this much of it. The fluffy creation has beautiful tones which look great on Huda, but the tuxedo tail piece is taking all the attention.Getty Images
Mark WahlbergMarky Mark’s not looking so funky in this drab getup. This outfit may have been acceptable for an event in the ‘80s, but the maroon sweater would have agreed better with dark denim and dress boots in 2019.Getty Images
