Don’t cry for Roseanne, Lanford. In the first trailer for the new/premiere/we don’t really know what to call it-season of The Conners (premiering Tuesday, October 16 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV), the whole family is back, minus matriarch Roseanne Conner–the recently ousted Roseanne Barr. So, how different do things look without the brash and bossy mom, wife and sister? Not very. It’s safe to go back on Twitter.

After Barr unleashed a racist tweet about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, Roseanne was cancelled following its hugely successful reboot season. ABC then reconsidered their actions and fired Barr, reinstating the rest of the cast and crew and renaming the show The Conners. With the first episode of the revamped series set to premiere in just a few weeks, we are now getting a sneak peek of what Lanford, Illinois looks like with one less townsperson and things look like loose meat sandwich business as usual.

Roseanne’s death is not mentioned explicitly in the trailer, although one scene shows the family at church, which could be for the character’s funeral (Barr said in a recent interview that her character dies from an opioid addiction). The new trailer shows all three Conner children, including DJ (Michael Fishman), Becky (Lecy Goranson) and Darlene (Sara Gilbert), as well as Roseanne’s sister Jackie, played by Emmy winner Laurie Metcalf. Darlene and Jackie seem to allude to Roseanne’s death, with the pair trying to plan out how to tackle the oncoming holidays, starting with Halloween.

The new trailer includes drinking, hugging, and organizing the family kitchen, which could all be signs of the characters dealing with Roseanne’s death. The series has never shied away from taking on difficult and emotional subjects, with John Goodman, who plays Barr’s husband Dan Conner, saying in a recent interview that his character will be ‘mopey’ because of his wife’s death.

How exactly the family will deal with Roseanne’s death will be made clear when The Conners make their return/debut. Yeah, we still don’t know what to call it.

The Conners premieres Tuesday, October 16 at 8 p.m. ET/ 9 p.m. MT on CTV.
