Since the death of his wife 14 months ago, Patton Oswalt has been open about how he’s been dealing. Michelle McNamara was the love of his life, and the mother of his daughter Alice. Patton would speak powerfully about Michelle, the impact she made, the mark she left, and honoured her any way he could. The way he wrote about her being ripped away from them was heartbreaking, honest and moving.

Now, it seems, Oswalt is moving forward. The actor and comedian was at the premiere of Baby Driver on Wednesday night, but he wasn’t alone. He walked the red carpet, hand-in-hand with actress Meredith Salenger.

Salenger — whom you may recognize from her plethora of awesome ’80s movies including Dream a Little Dream, A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon and The Journey of Natty Gann — tweeted a sweet selfie with Oswalt from inside the theatre. Could they be any cuter?

If you look back at Patton and Meredith’s earlier posts on social media, you’ll see that all signs were pointing to love.

I’m super in love guys. Just FYI. 💖

“Every time you choose love it delays the apocalypse.” Wow, the man does have a way with words. Oswalt may have been on a break from social media, but he did take the time to retweet Salenger’s photo. If that’s not love, we don’t know what is.

“It’s awful, but it’s not fatal,” Oswalt wrote on Facebook when he paid tribute to McNamara a year after her death. And life does go on. He might hate the cards he, Michelle and young Alice were dealt but it looks like he’s in a place where he can enjoy some newfound happiness. Patton will surely continue to celebrate Michelle and their story, but we love the chapter his story is on right now.
