What could be more fun for a child than having a miniature house in their own backyard? Well, how about having a playhouse that’s been designed specifically for them? Taking inspiration from customers, Charmed Playhouses is a company growing in popularity that creates magical, high-end tree houses and playhouses that will inspire everyone to spend a lot more time in their backyards.
The Alberta-based company was created two years ago when founder Tyson Levitt, a former landscaper, noticed that many of his jobs took him to large and empty backyards that offered little to no entertainment for children.
Since starting the company, Levitt’s creations have included everything from chandeliers and fireplaces to wainscoting, and each tree house comes complete with furniture and is fully painted. But here’s the most jaw-dropping part: Levitt just revealed that the price for one playhouse can range anywhere from $3,500 all the way up to $200,000. That’s right, a whopping 200 grand.
We know what you’re thinking: what is it exactly that makes these insanely priced playhouses superior to an ordinary one?
Buyers can actually customize the house to the wants and needs of their children, with each project being a creative endeavor for Levitt and his team. In the tree house pictured below, a family with three children requested that inspiration from Snow White, Rapunzel and a castle be combined for a tree house that’s now being sold for $40,000 USD.
The houses are built in the Charming Playhouses warehouse in Lethbridge before being shipped to the customer’s home and assembled on site.
So far, the tree houses have already caught the eye of several famous parents, including NFL player Brandon Marshall, MLB player Ryan Zimmer, and the NBA’s most valuable player, Steph Curry, who ordered this stunning tree house for his daughters.
Currently, Levitt and his team is working on another, admirable project: building tree houses specifically for children with special needs, which include elements that will help to improve each child’s dexterity.
Charming Playhouses have shipped their creations across Canada as well as the U.S., and have even sent one tree house to China, where it’s moved between malls for children to enjoy while their parents shop.
The company is even selling ‘specialty toys’ now, which include fancy-shmancy dog houses and climbing walls.
Although the houses do come with a hefty price tag, being able to customize the creation is a big perk. Of course, you should also consider that every kid in the neighborhood will be in your backyard on a daily basis before spending money on one.
So far, no customers have requested running water and plumbing, but that’s pretty much the only thing stopping many of these playhouses from becoming actual houses.
