Pearl Jam salutes The Hip
Just when we thought we’d cried all the tears, as Gord Downie tearfully performed his last show with the Tragically Hip, Pearl Jam made us reach for another box of tissues. The band was performing a concert of their own at Chicago’s Wrigley Field on Saturday when frontman, Eddie Vedder honoured Downie.
“There’s something going on north of the border tonight and it involves somebody who we consider a family member just ’cause he’s part of the group of touring musicians that we’ve met over the years,” Vedder told the crowd. “We were all informed of some sad news that he had a really tough form of brain cancer called glioblastoma which some of us know a lot about and it’s a tough one, if not one of the toughest forms.”
He added: “He was very courageous and decided to take [the Tragically Hip] out on one last tour and tonight’s the last night of that run. So they’re up there, going through the emotions up there. I just want to send them our energy from our gathering up to their gathering up there, and wish the best to Mr. Gord Downie. We love you.”
They proceeded to sing “Light Years” and if you’re not crying, then you’re a soulless robot. Sending you all our energy and love Gord.
Amber Heard celebrates divorce with girlfriends Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne
It’s been five glorious days for Amber, who finalized her divorce from Johnny Depp last week, and donated her entire settlement to charity. An event like that in one’s life deserves some celebration so that’s exactly what she did when she joined pals Margot Robbie and Cara Delevingne in London.
According to the Daily Mail, they tried to get into a strip club and were turned away, but wound up at London hot spot Chiltern Firehouse instead. We’re sure she didn’t really care where she was, as long as she was happy and as far away from her old life as possible, that’s all that matters.

Princess Eugenie joins Will, Kate and Harry at Kensington Palace
Kensington Palace is being described by The Daily Beast as the “centre of operations,” the new home base for all the powerful young royals. And it kind of makes perfect sense what with Prince William, Duchess Kate and their kids taking up Apartment 1 and Prince Harry living in Nottingham Cottage nearby on the property. Now factor in Princess Eugenie and that’s quite a power quartet.
Eugenie has moved out of her apartment with sister Beatrice in favour of Ivy Cottage, the three-bedroom home next to Harry’s place. The Daily Beast describes it as more of a “London base” than a “court” because everything’s “relaxed,” with first names insisted on and Harry sneaking off to get Starbucks for staff or to Tesco to grab some milk.
With Eugenie around, this leaves more royals to tend to royal engagements. Now all they need is Beatrice in the fold and they could take over the world.
Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger continue to give us hope that love isn’t dead
Last week, Josh and Diane were spotted buying a bottle of wine together. Sure, they could just be two friends grabbing some booze and it’s not a relationship-type errand to run. But do you know what is couply, especially for two people who were together for a long time? An embrace. At an airport.
ET Online has a photo of the exes (?) hugging it out at LAX on Friday. He was dropping her off for her flight and it was the kind of embrace that could be perceived as one of two things. The first being that this is their big goodbye. They were together for a while and needed to grab some things from one another, spent some time together reminiscing about the good times and this was their final farewell.
Or [and we’re going with this interpretation, because, well, we want to], their embrace was not the last and she just left to go wherever she was headed and would be back in Jackson’s arms again. Whatever the case, we’re still rooting for these two.
Leonardo DiCaprio and girlfriend Nina Agdal were in a car accident but they’re OK
Leo and Nina were in the Hamptons when their Range Rover was rear-ended by a woman driving a Mini. Perhaps we should see how that passenger is doing first.
According to Page Six, DiCaprio first checked to see if his girlfriend was OK before climbing out of the SUV and checking how the driver of the other car was doing.
Leo’s SUV was fine, he and Nina are fine but the other driver was tended to when an ambulance arrived, “as a precaution.” Oh, and her car? It had to be towed. Because when it’s a Range Rover and a Mini Cooper, the Range Rover always wins. But at least everyone’s OK.
