Periods – you gotta love ’em! Well, maybe not love them. But there must be some good things that come about from having your period, right?
One Reddit user was determined to get an answer to this, so they posted a question online: “what is your favorite thing about your period?”
And as you can probably imagine, the answer turned out to be not a whole darn lot.
But even though most of the answers weren’t in praise of Aunt Flow, they did help to show that periods aren’t all bad. And more importantly, that they shouldn’t be considered a taboo topic.
Period shaming is a huge problem in our society. From being told as a young girl to “hide” your period, to having your negative emotions attributed to PMS, periods are constantly surrounded by a cloud of stigma.
But the fact is, menstruation is a part of life. It’s a completely normal process that affects almost half of the world’s population. And whether society likes it or not, it’s here to stay.
So instead of feeling ashamed or embarrassed about periods, why not try to focus on the good?
Here’s what some Reddit users had to say about why they love their periods:
For many, the only good thing about getting their period is that it means they don’t have a human growing inside of them.
Others said they like their periods because it means that their bodies are in great working condition.
Some touched on the fact that their periods make them feel more connected and in tune with their bodies.
Others commented on the fact that it gives them an excuse to eat all the junk food they please (but honestly, do you really need an excuse for that?!)
One women even pointed out that her period makes her feel more energetic – if only she’d share her secret!
A few mentioned that they like how their partners treat them like royalty during that special week.
And of course, many women only like one thing about their period…
And that’s okay! Because whether you like your period or whether you bloody hate it, the most important thing to remember is that you don’t have to be ashamed of it.
