Sorry ladies, but it looks like you can buy happiness. Or, at least, science has some pretty convincing evidence.

A study presented by Annie Xiaoyu Gong, a McGill grad student, this week at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences has found that wealthier, better-educated women have more fulfilling sex lives. So yeah, basically, if your life is already perfect, you probably get great sex too. Shocking.

Higher levels of wealth and education are linked to more confidence, social resources, personal empowerment and increased life satisfaction in general. A confident woman is more likely to clearly ask her partner for what she wants sexually; a pretty good way to make it more enjoyable (although, let’s be honest, nothing’s fool-proof). Gong says that, as women are already at a disadvantage in society (thanks, sexism), the extra bit of empowerment that comes from economic success gives ladies that confidence boost to refuse to settle for sub-par sex.

The findings also hold regardless of marital status. Though married women reported more satisfaction than their single counterparts, for all women, higher levels of economic success correlated with more enjoyment. So it doesn’t matter who you’re with; if you have the power, you’re happy. And we were always told the best things in life are free…

Interesting side note: the same study revealed that for men, sexual satisfaction is a numbers game independent from socioeconomic status. Basically, if they’re getting it regularly, they’re happy. Big surprise.

So, it looks like science just proved that you really can have it all. That’s good to know.

But if you’re not rolling in it (money, that is), don’t despair just yet. What we’ve learned is that confidence and honesty in the bedroom is really what leads to satisfaction. You don’t have to be making millions to tell your partner what you want. Another tip? A study by Trojan reported that doing this can dramatically increase your enjoyment in the bedroom too.

Don’t let those one-percenters have all the fun. Get it, girl!
