It’s prom season, and you know what that means: two lucky students from every graduating class will be chosen as king and queen. At one Aurora, Ont. school, the votes were so ridiculously in favour of one pair that the teachers actually stopped counting.

Candice Dawson and Steven Burfield are incredibly popular at Dr. G.W. Williams Secondary School, and most students weren’t surprised that the pair with Down syndrome took top prize.

“Everyone loves them, so it was great to see everybody come together and be so inclusive,” said Kara Lamont, a fellow Grade 12 student. An astounding ninety-five percent of the graduating class voted for the two teens.

Just friends (as they have been since they were little), Dawson is graduating this year and Burfield still has another grade of high school.

Watch the teenagers win the crowns in the touching video, above.
