Pete Davidson reportedly taking a break from dating to focus on mental health

Comedian Pete Davidson is prioritizing his mental health, which includes taking a step back from dating. Davidson has been seeing model Kaia Gerber for two months, but the pair have not been spotted together in weeks. After first appearing together in late 2019, the couple are reportedly cooling things off while Davidson seeks treatment for his mental health.Davidson alluded to his decision to seek treatment for his mental health in the final episode of Saturday Night Live’s 2019 season. Appearing on Weekend Update, Davidson said he planned on spending the holidays "going on ‘vacation' but insurance pays for some of it, and they take your phone and shoelaces." Davidson previously sought treatment in 2016 and has been candid with his fans about his struggles with borderline personality disorder.

Davidson’s dating life has been fodder for the tabloids over the past two years. After two long term relationships (Davidson dated comedian Carly Aquilino from 2014 to 2015 and Cazzie David from 2016 to 2018), he announced his engagement to popstar Ariana Grande in June 2018. The pair broke up a few months later in October, and Davidson was next spotted with actor Kate Beckinsale at a January 2019 Golden Globes afterparty. The short-lived fling ended in April and by August, Davidson was dating actor Margaret Qualley, daughter to Andie MacDowell. Things between the two hit a rocky patch in December when Gerber’s famous parents Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber were spotted outside the 18-year-olds New York City apartment.

According to a source, Gerber and Crawford were in New York to help "guide [Kaia] and to help Pete through a difficult time." Davidson was later seen leaving the apartment and Kaia has since returned to Los Angeles, with no further sightings of the couple together. A second source told E! News that Davidson is receiving help in a treatment facility where he has no contact with Gerber. The source adds that the teen model "doesn't know if she wants to continue in their relationship,” and "wasn't comfortable with what she saw and doesn't know if she can handle it." The source continues, saying "What she saw happen with Pete was very concerning and scary for her... She cares about Pete and wants him to get better. But their future is very much up in the air."Of course, the best news to come out of this story is that Davidson has reached out for help and is receiving treatment.
