As the crisis in Syria and the Middle East continues, Canadians are opening their arms to welcome refugees into the country.
The latest group of privately sponsored refugee families arrived in Calgary on November 24 and not only were their Canadian relatives anxiously waiting for their arrival, strangers gathered in droves to show their support.
They waited patiently for Canada’s newest arrivals:

Calgarians brought a lot of warm clothes and toys for them:

And had snacks on hand just in case the refugees were hungry:

And one little Canuck even gave away candy canes as tokens of sweet love:

We can’t imagine what it must have felt like for the 16 refugees to be greeted with such open arms as they walked into Calgary International Airport. Bravo to all the Calgarians who showed their support.
The new Liberal government has promised to bring over 25,000 Syrian refugees through both government and private sponsorships by year’s end.
