The movie might be way too mature for a five-year-old, but that hasn’t stopped Ethan Hagel from proclaiming Deadpool his favourite superhero and greatest role model. The Colwood, B.C. boy wanted nothing more than a Deadpool costume for his birthday, and that’s exactly what he got from his aunt last month (at his Deadpool-themed party, of course). He’s basically lived in the suit ever since.

‘He slept in it that whole night,’ his mother told CTV, ‘He didn’t take it off for about a week.’

A few weeks later, after seeing a photo of Ryan Reynolds taken at the near-by Hatley Castle where the star was spotted filming a sequel, Ethan decided to follow ‘suit.’

Dropped by X-Mansion. Looked closely for Beast’s lawn bombs before taking well deserved nap.

Since the castle was so close to Ethan’s home, his mom agreed to go for a little Deadpool photo-shoot of their own.

‘He wanted to get it just right and we took a whole bunch of shots and when we got it just right he said, ‘I want you to send that to Deadpool,” she said.

And send it they did. Through a family friend, the Hagels were able to get the photo to Reynolds’ publicist who, in turn, showed it to the actor. Reynolds posted a side-by-side of the original photo and Ethan’s parody to Instagram shortly after.

How does Ethan feel about his sudden internet fame and acknowledgement from his hero?

‘We’re both like, super famous,’ he says. It might still be a few years before he can see his hero in action, but having Ryan Reynolds post a picture of you dressed as him is probably a little better.
