These days we’re all pretty accustomed to celebrities — especially performers — curating clothing offshoots of their personal brands. Victoria Beckham certainly made a fashionable name for herself in her post Posh Spice days, while Sean Combs proved he was more than a voice with his 1998 release of Sean John. Rihanna, Kanye, Jessica Simpson and Beyoncé have all followed suit with apparel lines over the years, making a clothing line seem like a necessity if one wants to bolster their star power.
Well it seems as though Justin Bieber may be the next musician joining the fashion ranks… or at least his latest legal move indicates that he could be doing so in the near future.
According to TMZ, Bieber and his team have once again filed a trademark on his middle name Drew, as well as “La Maison Drew” and “House of Drew,” in hopes of finally piecing together a clothing line. This is the third time the Canadian singer has started the trademark process mind you; he abandoned the venture twice before, first in 2012 and again in 2015.
Should he carry on this time though (they do say the third time is a charm), Bieber-approved jeans, shorts and other probable streetwear-inspired items could be coming our way soon, further solidifying The Biebs’ place in our current culture.
Thankfully, Bieber has some experience in this area. In 2016 to correspond with his Purpose tour, he released a capsule collection with Barneys NY (Fear of God’s Jerry Lorenzo designed it), as well as a special capsule collection for H&M. Think items like sweatshirts, bombers and graphic tees — basically, the sort of wardrobe Bieber is known for sporting.
If this actually ends up happening, we expect the same same sort of look from House of Drew, with some bonus items like skirts and sweaters. According to the gossip site, we may even have pyjamas and children’s clothing to look forward to as well, which would really bring the singer’s collection to some surprising places.
Perhaps our Biebs is growing up after all.
