The royal family—not to mention royal watchers—are breathing sighs of relief right about now. Prince Charles, the first senior royal to be diagnosed with COVID-19, is out of isolation. The announcement comes just five days after his diagnosis was made public, and more than two weeks after his last public outing on March 12. In total the future king was quarantined for seven days in Scotland, as per the recommendations of the U.K. government."Clarence House has confirmed today that, having consulted with his doctor, The Prince of Wales is now out of self-isolation," Clarence House said in a statement on March 30. “Thank you for all your 'Get Well Soon' messages for His Royal Highness. He is enormously touched by your kind words.”[video_embed id='1928178']RELATED: Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19[/video_embed]Official reps previously said it’s impossible to tell where Prince Charles contracted the virus given all of the people he’s met with or seen while out and about over the past month. His “mild” symptoms kept him in “good health,” and he was working from home “as usual,” his people said. The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, who did not test positive for COVID-19 like her husband, will self-isolate until the end of the week, a palace official told the BBC.Prince Charles isn’t the only official that people across the pond have been worried about. On March 27, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed on Twitter that he had also tested positive for COVID-19, and was self-isolating and leading the government from his home via the old telly and video-conferencing. Like Prince Charles, his symptoms were mild, and he is expected to recover. Like North Americans, people in the U.K. have been practicing social distancing and self-isolation to help stop the spread of coronavirus for a good part of the month. British star Idris Elba was one of the earliest celebrities to contract the virus, and as of March 25 he and his wife Sabrina Dhowre remained under quarantine in New Mexico, where Elba was preparing to film Netflix’s new western, The Harder They Fall.“Hoping everyone is coping with this $@@!! Currently still quarantine.. Sab and I still feel ok so far with no changes,” he wrote on Twitter. “Dr told us that after quarantine we will be immune for a certain time since our antibodies fought this. At some point we’d like to go home to London. Bsafe.”[video_embed id='1929880']RELATED: The smallest royals say thanks to healthcare workers[/video_embed]
