The latest Bond film has suffered a few setbacks, from production delays to losing its original director. So now it seems that producers are looking to shake things up with a little stunt casting, and they apparently have one person in particular they’d like to bring on board: Prince Charles. Pfft, that 2000 episode of Coronation Street he appeared in has nothing on this.
The Prince of Wales toured Pinewood Studios in June, and sources say he was asked if he would be interested in making a cameo appearance. “When he visited the film set a few weeks ago it was discussed,” a source close to the production team told The Sun. “Now he is considering it.” It would be quite the casting coup, as Bond 25 has been plagued with all kinds of trouble. First there was the switch of directors (from Danny Boyle, who quit last August and was replaced by Cary Fukunaga); Phoebe Waller-Bridge was called in to clean up the script; a crew member was injured after a fire destroyed part of the soundstage; and Bond himself, Daniel Craig, required surgery, putting production on hold for a couple weeks. “The producers are desperate to sign him,” added the source. “It is no secret that the film has suffered a number of setbacks but landing a Royal could be just what the movie needs.”
Along with touring the set, and hanging with Craig, Charles also met with Ralph Fiennes and Fukunaga, and watched a scene being filmed with Naomie Harris and Bond 2.0 Lashlana Lynch.

On the set of the new #Bond25 film at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, The Prince of Wales talks cars with @007 himself, Daniel Craig! The Prince toured the James Bond set today and met cast and crew, including Ralph Fiennes, who plays ‘M’ in the films, and gave The Prince a peek inside his character’s office. HRH also watched a scene being filmed with actors @NaomieHarris and @lashanalynch. 🎥 The new James Bond film, the 25th in the series, is due for release next year. During the visit, The Prince met @britishfilminstitute apprentices who are working on the film. The BFI Film Academy runs 52 academies across the UK, giving young people the opportunity to learn about filmmaking. HRH has been Patron of the @BFI for 40 years.
Technically, this isn’t the first time a royal has been part of a Bond experience. If you recall, Charles’ mother, Queen Elizabeth, had her own Bond girl moment when she was involved in the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, which saw Craig escorting Her Majesty from Buckingham Palace before a stunt double of HRH parachuted down to Olympic Park.
“Charles is a patron of both the British Film Institute and the intelligence services, so a role in the 25th Bond would be particularly appropriate for him,” added another source. “Any confirmation of a cameo is likely to be kept top, top secret. But if Charles doesn’t go for it Harry and Wills could be in producers sights next.”
It wouldn’t be the first time the brothers have made cameos in a huge movie. Will and Harry played stormtroopers in Star Wars: The Last Jedi — though their height almost cost them the gigs. Sadly, their scenes were cut from the movie but they did make the special features of the DVD and Blu-Ray versions. But why are they enlisting these royals when they have an actual former actress in their midst? Maybe it’s time for Duchess Meghan to submit her reel.
Bond 25 is due to hit theatres in 2020.
