We were given notice that President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were going to be at Kensington Palace, to dine with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as Prince Harry. And most of us just really, really wanted to see Michelle and Harry together. What we didn’t expect, though, was to see William and Catherine’s son, Prince George. The little guy stayed up to make an appearance and it was epic.

Once the Obamas set foot in the palace, George was waiting for them, dressed smartly in a robe overtop his pajamas. And while he looked dapper, he initially seemed a little shy and a lot cautious upon meeting these newcomers. We could only imagine what was going through his little head. “Um, what are these people doing in my house and why do I have to ride this rocking horse that the help just took out of royal storage?” FYI, that rocking horse was a gift from the Obamas when he was born.

Honestly. Look at George’s little hand in President Obama’s and the way he’s warily regarding him. Amazing.

But after meeting them, George’s apprehension vanished and he looked more comfortable, thanks to his mom. It also helped that President Obama is like Harry and is very good with kids. Sadly, George’s sister, Princess Charlotte, was already asleep when the president and first lady arrived.

The best part, though, had nothing to do with George. It HAS to be mentioned. Upon the Obamas’ arrival, everyone exchanged stiff handshakes … but not Harry and Michelle. It’s like they couldn’t help it and had to greet the other with kisses. Of course.

And while that photo is spectacular (look at the sheer joy on the FLOTUS’s face), the video is even better and it captures the magic that is Harry and Michelle. You’re welcome.
