You know when you walk into a movie theatre with high expectations for the film — and it’s a letdown? Or you get hooked on a TV show that is so good, from the cast to the writing to the stories, but for some reason others don’t really agree and the series is cancelled? Yeah. This might be that. Because while we really, really, really want this to be true, it maybe isn’t. But let’s break it down and see if there could be any truth to the rumours.

Prince Harry, the perennial singleton of the royal family, is providing the manliest of shoulders for Athina Onassis to cry on. Athina, the lone heiress of Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis and step-granddaughter to Jackie Kennedy Onassis, has been going through a devastating divorce from her cheating husband of 11 years Álvaro de Miranda Neto a.k.a. Doda, and it’s being reported that Harry is there to help her pick up the pieces.

“Harry has known Athina for years,” a royal confidante told New Idea. “She’s a regular in the international equestrian set and they have lots of mutual friends.”

All of which is true. Athina is a competitive show jumper in her own right, just like Harry’s cousin Zara Tindall, and considering their families and respective pedigrees, it shouldn’t be surprising that they run in the same circles.

Onassis discovered Doda was having an affair when her security team found him in their Florida home with the sister of another equestrian. So now she’s preparing to kick his show-jumping ass in divorce court. What better way to do that than hire a ruthless attorney AND get some comfort from the ginger prince? It might not be anything romantic but Doda doesn’t have to know that. And while they seem like an unlikely match and neither of the other’s type, crazier things have happened than two friends going from like to love. Our conclusion: it’s a definite maybe.
