Monday would have been the great Michael Jackson‘s 58th birthday, and while we’re all mourning the King of Pop, Prince Jackson put his father in perspective for us. And he did it in the best way the Jackson family knows how: through song. Well, more of a sonnet, actually.
Prince posted the heartfelt poem, ‘The Myth, The Legend, The Man,‘ to his Instagram on Monday to honor his late father and remind us that he was more than just a superstar; he was a person with a family. While we all lost a music legend, Prince, Paris and Blanket lost a father.
For those of you who are interested: yes, that’s a real sonnet written in iambic pentameter and everything. Shakespeare would be proud. And we assume MJ would probably be pretty into it too.
The poem pretty much says it all: how he lived his life not just as a musician but as a father, friend and a human being.
Is Michael Jackson Jr. the next Michael Jackson? If this sonnet is any indication of his talent, we think so. We may have lost a legend, but we’re not counting out his kids just yet. Maybe all three of them can join together and form the Jackson Three 2.0? Revivals are the theme of 2016, right?
