Prince Philip is “deeply sorry”
A week and a half after getting involved in a car accident in Sandringham — which rolled his Land Rover and resulted in a broken wrist for a passenger in the other car — Prince Philip has issued an apology to the injured Emma Fairweather. And not just a formal statement either, rather a personal note on Sandringham House letterhead and everything.
“I would like you to know how very sorry I am for my part in the accident at the Babingley cross-roads,” the letter to Fairweather read, which she shared with the Sunday Mirror. “I have been across that crossing any number of times and I know very well the amount of traffic that uses that main road.”
He further explained: “It was a bright sunny day and at about three in the afternoon, the sun was low over the Wash. In other words, the sun was shining low over the main road. In normal conditions I would have no difficulty in seeing traffic coming from the Dersingham direction, but I can only imagine that I failed to see the car coming, and I am very contrite about the consequences.”
Philip added that the accident left him “shaken” but he was “relieved” that no one was seriously injured. And the reason he didn’t stick around was because he was advised to return home by a local police officer and was only later informed of Fairweather’s broken arm.
“I am deeply sorry about this injury,” he continued. “I wish you a speedy recovery from a very distressing experience.”
While the note was typed out, it was addressed and signed in blue ink. Fairweather was “pleasantly surprised” by it and believes it was hand-delivered to her home where she received it January 23, six days after the accident took place on January 17. The letter itself is dated January 21.
“I thought it was really nice that he signed off as ‘Philip’ and not the formal title,” Fairweather said. “A lot of people said it was unrealistic that I wanted human kindness from Prince Philip — which is what I saw this letter as.”
Well done, Philip. Now they can both move on — assuming all seatbelts are firmly secured.
Matt LeBlanc revealed which props he stole from the set of Friends and it’s a little surprising
Friends may have ended 15 years ago, but no matter what roles Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc have played since–or will go on to play in the future–nothing in their lives will live up to their characters on the hit sitcom.
LeBlanc was on The Tonight Show on Friday promoting the upcoming third season of Man With a Plan but Jimmy Fallon still found a way to work Friends into the conversation. As usual, Matt was more than happy to chat about it, revealing which set props may have fallen into his duffel bag on his way out the door.
So LeBlanc didn’t even keep the Magna Doodle from the back of Joey and Chandler’s apartment? He only kept the foosball from Joey and Chandler’s foosball table, he’s keeping it in a toolbox somewhere? Kind of disappointing. Just think of all the props Matt could’ve swiped.
But he did take a “sh*t ton of cash” from the show’s success (and continued success, thanks to syndication). Realistically, a fridge magnet from Monica’s kitchen doesn’t really compare to a million big ones per episode. Though Rosita would’ve been a sweet addition to any home.
Kanye is suing Jay Z
Whether this is another feud or purely professional, the friendship between Kanye West and Jay-Z might be over. Kanye filed two lawsuits on Friday: one against EMI, the other against Roc-a-Fella Records, UMG Recordings, Def Jam, and Bravado International Group. In case you weren’t up to date on Jay-Z’s business dealings, Roc-A-Fella was co-founded by none other than Jay.
People reports the lawsuit documents are heavily redacted–removing specific details of the complaints and the amount in damages being sought–but what can be made out is the part where West claims credit for “helping revitalize JAY-Z’s career.” Kanye describes 2000 as being a “breakout year” as he produced Jay-Z’s album, The Blueprint, as well as co-wrote four of the songs.
A rep for Kanye told The Blast that there’s no beef between Ye and Jay but can we really be sure? We can only imagine how well Jay might take the whole “revitalize Jay-Z’s career” thing. If we recall, people and media outlets alike were a little, teeny, tiny bit interested in Jay that year because of who his new gf was. Maybe you’ve heard of her.
Demi Lovato has been sober for six months
Demi Lovato celebrated quite the milestone this weekend: six months of sobriety. And if that’s not a day to eat cake, we don’t know what is.
“Happy 6 mo we are so f*cking proud of you!” read a note accompanying her cake which also featured a number six. Lovato posted the pic on her Instagram stories, writing, “Best day ever.”
Demi also shared a shot of her six months token, with emojis showing just how grateful she is.
Keep on fighting, Demi. We’re all rooting for you.
Lady Gaga pulled a man from the audience to sing with her and he did great
Remember years ago, when Bruce Springsteen plucked a then-unknown Courteney Cox out of the crowd during the “Dancing in the Dark” video and she debuted those unforgettable moves? Yeah, Lady Gaga did something similar on Saturday and pulled a man on stage with her, except … hang on a sec. There was something familiar about the guy. That’s because it was Bradley Cooper!
“So a really good friend of mine … I don’t know if you know him but his name is Bradley,” Gaga said to the audience. “He made that movie, um, A Star Is Born. So I’m gonna be a little chance-y. Yo Bradley, you wanna come up and do this one with me?”
Not sure whether Cooper actually wanted to, but he was a good sport. Once they got past the technical issues, their performance was even more stunning than it is on the big screen — pretty amazing considering it’s the first time the duo has ever sung it live. Hey, if Bradley and Gaga want to put out a whole live album, we’d be OK with that. Just saying.
