Despite the royal appearances Prince William makes, most people still want to know what his home life with Duchess Kate is like. More specifically, the people want to know how fatherhood has been and what his two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, are up to nowadays. And apparently, they’re up to a lot.
While at the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust recently, patron William joked about his kids, saying, “No broken bones yet but they’re trying. Running around, pushing things, jumping. Please tell me it gets easier.”
He also gushed about his 10-month-old daughter, the way all parents do.
“Charlotte is very easy, very sweet but all the fathers say, ‘Just you wait. When they get to nine, 10, 11, they go crazy.'” Heh. Wait until the terrible twos. And the trying threes. And the ferocious, frustrating, fire-breathing fours …
William is ready though, saying he’s “looking forward to it, though he concedes “there will be some drama.” He has no idea.
While many love what the Cambridges bring to the royal game, there are a lot of haters and doubters too. It’s easy to write them off by assuming they have a household staff and nannies that do most of the child-minding and anything related to George and Charlotte. But he and Kate are pretty hands-on and only have one nanny for their kids — unlike royals of the past.
Will and Kate are different kinds of parents than past princes and princesses. They’re not only caring for their kids away from the spotlight but also taking on more domestic tasks themselves. Sure, it’s early days and things could and probably will change but, for now, we think they’re doing a bang-up job, even though, at times, things may be trying. We’ll give them a couple years and see how things have changed. Hopefully things just get better and better.
