As we get closer to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May 19th wedding, the rumours surrounding the nuptials continue to grow. The latest comes from the UK’s magazine The Sun, which announced that Harry’s brother Prince William will be taking on the duty of walking the bride down the aisle.
Kensington Palace has declined to comment on the wedding’s guest list, but The Sun is reporting that both Meghan’s half brother and her father have not been invited to the wedding of the year. The Daily Star is reporting that Markle’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. was left off the guest list because of an interview he did with InTouch magazine, talking about his famous sister who he has reportedly not spoken with since 2011.
As for Markle’s father not getting the chance to choose chicken or fish, that one comes as a bit more of a surprise. The Sun cites Thomas Markle Sr.’s tendencies of shying away from the public eye, as well as some ‘bad blood’ with son-in-law-to-be Prince Harry after Harry said Meghan was getting ‘the family she never had.’ In all fairness, does anyone have a family like the royals, except, you know, the royals?
Markle had previously expressed her desire to have her mother Doria Radlan walk her down the aisle, but now it’s looking like it may be Markle’s brother-in-law to be, Prince William, who will be by her side during the heavily televised stroll at St. George’s Chapel on the Windsor Castle grounds.
We still don’t know whether Prince William playing double duty as best man and bride escort is simply a rumour or if the royal family’s insistence that traditions be adhered to (ie. a man, not a woman, walking the bride down the aisle) cannot be compromised. Considering all the hoops that Markle has had to jump through for this wedding including leaving her acting career, being baptized into the Church of England, and deleting all her social media accounts, let’s hope she gets to make some decisions. So far, it sounds like the royal family may be the biggest bridezilla of them all.
