If you ever wondered who rules the Cambridges’ royal roost, whether it’s Prince William or Duchess Kate, turns out, it’s neither. Nor is it Prince George, though we wouldn’t have blamed you for assuming so, since the eldest child has been around longer and knows the lay of the royal land better. In fact, it’s youngest, but soon-to-be-middle child Princess Charlotte who is the boss. And who better to confirm that news than the Queen herself?
During a visit to a local school within the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, Her Majesty was presenting some young students with a signed bible as part of a religious studies award, Us Weekly reports. One child was asked by the Queen whether she “looked after” her little sister and their mother replied, “It’s the other way around.”
The Queen was quick to divulge, “It’s like that with Charlotte and George.”
This comes nearly a year after Kate told another mom that Charlotte “is the one in charge.” It’s not really that surprising, though. If you look at photos of the children, George always looks a little apprehensive, cautious, mindful of what’s around him. Charlotte, on the other hand, has a confidence about her, and she just seems more happy-go-lucky and ready to rock whatever’s thrown at her.
But how will the power dynamic shift once a third child enters the picture? Will Charlotte be able to maintain her girlboss reign, or will middle child syndrome hit the Cambridge household? Only time will tell, but we think Charlotte will handle herself just fine.
