Imagine your first birthday. You probably had a cake, and maybe a bouncy castle? Perhaps that’s even when your fear of clowns began. But if you’re Princess Charlotte, you have more than that. Actual countries are sending gifts, and they are very nice.
Australia sent Her Royal Highness a blanket, crafted from Tasmanian merino wool, with hand-sewn emblems stitched by an Embroiderers’ Guild. Israel sent the little lady a pink sundress with the words ‘From Israel With Love.’ Turns out, gift-giving countries love embroidery. And Scotland is sending a hat, so she’s going to be covered in every possible way.
But it’s thanks to Canada that Princess Charlotte will be warm come winter. Because our nation has sent a Canada Goose jacket ($375 at Sporting Life), Robert Munsch’s Love You Forever, a pair of Mukluks, a handmade muskox wool blanket, a copy of The Hockey Sweater and a $100,000 charitable donation made in her name to Immunize Canada.
So, yeah, we gave her the jacket that celebrities wear through the cold months, and the promise of immunizations for Canada!
