Leia may be back in Star Wars: The Force Awakens next month, but don’t you dare call her a Princess!
According to Force Awakens director and co-writer JJ Abrams, Leia is a princess no longer. She now has a new title and it’s ‘General (Leia) Organa.’ Pretty sweet, huh?
“The stakes are pretty high in the story for her, so there’s not much goofing around where Leia’s concerned,” Abrams said. “She’s referred to as General, but there’s a moment in the movie where a character sort of slips and calls her ‘Princess.'” Yikes! We’re looking at you, Han. You’re in big trouble.
Although Carrie Fisher, the former princess, says she’s pleased with Leia’s new title upgrade, it still wasn’t her first choice. “People should say, ‘Hey! You! My one true joy!’”
Leia makes her bad-ass return to the screen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18. Remember to watch what you say.
