While in town for the world premiere of her new film The Sky is Pink, the actress-producer-humanitarian sat down with etalk for a wide-ranging chat and revealed that even though Nick Jonas couldn't be in Toronto like he'd hoped (he's got a prior commitment in the form of a world tour) he'd seen the film and responded appropriately.

"I looked back at him when we were watching the movie and he was just [sniffing]," Priyanka said, mimicking her husband's crying. "And Nick's not a crier so he was just [wiping his eyes]... It was just so cute and he was really, really affected by the movie . . . I wanted him to cry. I was like, 'You better cry!'"

The movie is based on a true story about a family torn apart and brought together by tragedy and one she's particularly proud of since it marks her return to Indian film as well as her first actor-producer credit and first billing as Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Buddy comedy meets wedding flick

No surprise that Chopra Jonas revealed Nick was hugely supportive of her and the project while she was on-set, and sent her flowers for the big night, and it's not the last time he'll play a big role in a project to which she's intimately connected. Priyanka also dished some deets on her upcoming work with writer, producer and comedic powerhouse, Mindy Kaling. Chopra and Kaling announced earlier this year that they would be teaming up to develop an Indian wedding comedy together, inspired by Priyanka and Nick's giant multi-day festivities last December.

"I had just freshly gotten married and Mindy and I started talking about wanting to do something together," she said. "I just started telling her funny stories about when Nick's family came to India and the clash of the cultures and there were so many funny things that came out of there... It's a buddy comedy which travels from the U.S. to India and I think it will be really fun."

The script is still in the early stages and being written by Kaling and Brooklyn Nine-Nine writer-producer Dan Goor, but we're already pumped for whatever these incredible women have to offer.

Family Matters

And given that she plays a mother on-screen in The Sky Is Pink, we had to ask if we could expect any Chopra Jonas babies in the near-future. The couple hasn't been married a year yet, but Priyanka says they're already looking forward to that major step.

"It's not something that you can plan," she said. "Whenever it's the right time, it'll happen. And for Nick and I—that's something that's on our agenda in life generally."

Of course, we're down for whatever Nick and Priyanka want, but how adorable will it be when all the Jo Bros and Jo Sisses have a bunch of little Jo Cousins running around? Plus, Priyanka recently got a lot of mom practice developing her maternal instincts with her role as the protective mother of a sick child in The Sky Is Pink. She says she drew inspiration from director Shonali Bose, who lost her son, and her own mother, Madhu Chopra.

"My mom is a super possessive, ferociously protective over her cubs, kind of tigress woman," she said. "Like, she can't stand [to see] tears in my eyes; she'll do anything. My character is like that too—she'll fight to the death for her daughter and her children."

And considering Priyanka's fierce dedication to her career, a truly global superstar and the first Indian-born actress to lead a primetime TV show with the now-cancelled Quantico, marriage, fans, who number over 44 million on her Instagram, it's safe to assume she'll apply the same focus to her own babies if and when she has them.
