Priyanka Chopra says she got tricked into revealing she's attending Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding, but now that the secret's out, she's happy to shine a spotlight on her admirable friend.

"More than anything... I'm just really happy for a friend of mine," the actress told Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday's Tonight Show. "It's a big day for your friend and you should be happy about it."

Priyanka told Jimmy she met the former Suits star at an Elle event several years ago, then connected again when they were both filming their TV shows in Toronto.

The Quantico star explained she felt "scammed" to discuss the wedding in an interview with Us Weekly earlier in the week. As she was doing promotion for the new season of her CTV series, she was asked if she had decided what dress she'd wear to the big day.

“I sort of may have an idea,” she told Us, making headlines with her casual confirmation that she planned to attend.  “But no, I haven’t picked one out yet.”

But Chopra isn't just thrilled to see her friend get married. She suggests the focus on Markle will have positive effects beyond the personal.

“It’s not just going to be life-changing for both of them, it’s life-changing for the world that needs to see strong women as icons, and I think Meghan has the potential to be that," Chopra tells People.

“She’s just a really real girl,” she continued. “She’s a girl’s girl. She’s a really relatable young woman who is concerned about the world just like you and I are. That’s what I love the most about her. I feel like her authenticity is what’s going to make her really stand out in this new life she’s going to take on.”
