Remember prom season back in the day? You’d nudge your crush on the shoulder during an opportune time–whether it was during second period or during lunch–and shyly ask them, “Um, would you go to, uh, prom with me?” Of course, they’d awkwardly say yes and both of you would go on your merry ways with smiles on your faces. Sweet and simple, right? Well, those days are long gone, friends. Many highschoolers these days think that old school way of asking someone out is lame as hell (sorry) and they’ve changed the prom game with “promposals.” Yes, teens are asking their crushes to prom in such ridiculous ways, it’s basically like they’re asking for their hand in marriage.

Exhibit A: This guy who recruited his friends to stage a superhero battle. (Press play.)

This girl was literally crowned queen and walked down her custom-made red carpet.

So now we’re faking deaths too? Great.

Best delivery ever? Maybe…

We’ll approve only if they ate this whole monstrocity.

Clearly the horse was having none of it.

Lighting things on fire? Oh, that’s safe.

Burning to go to #Prom with you, was what it said before the 🔥 #TeamFire #TacoBellPromposals #Promposals

We’re assuming Campbell sponsored this (no, they didn’t).

This house has multiple building code violations.

Please don’t twerk and prompose.

OK, this twerk-promposal is kind of funny. Emphasis on “kind of.”

Here come the synchronized dance moves.

These synchronized swimmers wanted in on it too.

Yeah, these guys are basically married now.

One final question: Aren’t these kids supposed to be in class?!
