The latest and greatest love rumour is that Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch are dating, and if that’s true, they’re the hottest Canadian couple since, well, McAdams and Ryan Gosling. Come on, Regina George and Tim Riggins?! Um, yes, please.

While Us Weekly points out that McAdams has a penchant for dating her co-stars (Gosling, Michael Sheen and Jake Gyllenhaal), one of the mag’s sources said of McAdams and Kitsch, “It hasn’t been long. But it’s serious.” Serious! Just like True Detective, which they’ve been working on together for months.

Another insider chimed in: “I don’t know if it’s full-blown love yet, but they talk constantly. They’re really into each other. She talks about him all the time!”

All. The. Time. That’s something, right? Heck, yeah. Especially since they’ve been friends for years and are, you know, both Canadian. Maybe they wind down their days by drinking a couple of Canadians, talking about Degrassi and 19-2, listening to Alanis Morissette and wondering whether this is the year the Leafs can get their asses in check.

All the gorgeous, purely Canadian couple needs is Anne Murray to officiate their wedding and they’ll be made in the freezing Canadian shade.

No, really, this couple better be happening and not just a figment of a magazine’s imagination. Because we need to believe that love isn’t dead. And this is the perfect for way for us to get over Bennifer 2.0 going belly up.

At the very least, we’ll certainly be watching their scenes together on True Detective (Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada) very closely…
