It was only two weeks ago that Tory Lanez was making history at the JUNO Awards and now the rising Canadian artist is back in the headlines, but not for reasons fans had hoped. TMZ is reporting that Lanez has been arrested after police searched his vehicle and found a gun. Fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion was also involved and has been listed as a "victim."According to TMZ, police were called after there were complaints about a house party in the Hollywood Hills. Police arrived around 4:30 a.m. shortly after witnesses say a group of people were arguing in an SUV. Shots were fired in the air and the car took off. Police later caught up to the SUV and found Lanez (real name: Daystar Peterson), as well as Megan Thee Stallion (Megan Jovon Ruth Pete) and another woman inside. Police searched the vehicle and found a concealed weapon, which in the US is considered a felony. Lanez’s bail was set at $35,000 and Complex is reporting that the rapper was released on Sunday and expected to appear in court on October 13.Megan Thee Stallion was listed as a victim in the incident, but thankfully it appears as though her injuries are minimal. The rapper was taken to the hospital and treated for a foot wound, which may have stemmed from stepping on broken glass. Both Tory and Megan were seen earlier in the night on Megan’s Instagram Live. It appears the pair were attending a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s home. The clip ends with a male voice telling Kylie and Megan that the music needs to be turned down because the police have arrived. TMZ notes that Jenner’s home is in Holmby Hills, which is several miles from where gunshots were reported in the Hollywood Hills. In June, 27-year-old Lanez made history when he became the first artist to win both Rap Recording of the Year and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year at the JUNO Awards. During quarantine, Lanez has been hosting weekly dance competitions and interviews with celebrities like Tiffany Haddish, Drake and Justin Timberlake on Instagram Live. Lanez has also been selling face masks and donating a portion of the sales to COVID-19 relief.Megan Thee Stallion released her breakthrough single “Hot Girl Summer” in 2019 and quickly became one of the most exciting new artists of the year. In April, the 25-year-old artist dropped a remix of her track “Savage” that featured fellow Texas native Beyoncé. In June, Megan won Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards and also took home the Viewer’s Choice Award for “Hot Girl Summer” featuring Nicki Minaj. Megan is currently starring as one of the judges on HBO Max’s new series Legendary.[video_embed id='1994191']BEFORE YOU GO: Groomer gets emotional when she finds out dog she's working on is now hers[/video_embed]
