Singer-songwriter Harry Styles has a lot of fans. His former boy band, One Direction held six Guinness World Records in 2016, including most followers on Twitter for a music group, and most YouTube subscribers for a band. Styles’ 2017 solo world tour sold out in under two minutes, and one fan fiction author landed a six figure book deal after her Harry Styles 300 chapter saga was viewed over 800 million times.

Unfortunately, being adored by people around the globe also has its drawbacks. Namely when it comes to losing footwear while being mobbed. In Harry Styles at the BBC (set to air November 1st), Styles revealed to host Nick Grimshaw that he got into a bit of a predicament while swarmed by fans in Paris. While security pulled his body free from the crowd, Styles’ sneakers didn’t quite make it out with him. His devotees had literally taken the shoes off of his feet — the final touch to any Harry Styles shrine, of course.
Though the incident inspired his current choice of, ahem, more secure footwear (boots only please, and even better if they’re Saint Laurent, Gucci or Calvin Klein), don’t get him wrong, he still treasures his admirers.
“They’re our future. Our future doctors, lawyers, mothers, presidents, they kind of keep the world going,” he told Rolling Stone. “Teenage-girl fans — they don’t lie. If they like you, they’re there. They don’t act ‘too cool.’ They like you, and they tell you. Which is sick.”
Just don’t steal his shoes.
