All that recent talk about the Spice Girls reuniting was just a dream, as Victoria Beckham let us know that it wasn’t happening. She told Vogue earlier in the month that “the girls aren’t going on tour” because they’ve all got so much going on. Well, turns out, she wasn’t completely truthful. Beckham, Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell are getting back together for one night only — but not in the way you think.

Mel B was a guest on the talk show The Real this week and revealed that all five Spice Girls received invites to the hottest even of the year: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s royal wedding.

She wouldn’t say what the invitation looked like, just that it was “proper,” but co-host Loni Love pressed, asking the question that was weighing on all our minds: will the Spice Girls be performing?

That’s when Mel sighed, saying, “I swear, I’m just, like …” and that was hesitation enough, giving the hosts all the answer they needed.

Mel eventually said, “I need to go. I’m gonna be fired.” Fired? No. Uninvited? Maybe.

A source told Us Weekly that the Spice Girls were “thrilled to be asked” but they “haven’t agreed to perform” just yet. But, yes, “there are active talks between the Spice Girls management and Prince Harry’s staff.”

We already knew Harry and Meghan’s wedding was going to be amazing, but anyone hoping it would be an intimate affair better think again. The Spice Girls are one thing but throw in the rumours of Ed Sheeran and Elton John also attending and maybe performing, and this is becoming less a reception, and more the star-studded concert event of the season. Now, if Harry and Megs can land Beyoncé so she and Sheeran can sing their gorgeous duet “Perfect,” then we can die happily. Viva forever. We’ll be waiting.
