Meryl Streep entered the Big Little Lies (Sundays, 9 p.m., Crave) universe this season with a bang (and a blood-curdling scream) and since then, she’s established herself as the character we all love to hate. Which is why we were all looking forward to the day when Reese Witherspoon (as Madeline Mackenzie) would throw an ice cream cone at the back of her head. We could not imagine a more cathartic and warranted moment.
We’ve been waiting for this scene for NEARLY A YEAR since photos surfaced of Reese chucking a double scoop of cookies and cream at one of the most iconic actresses in the modern era. That was before we even knew how Meryl’s character, Mary Louise Wright, would treat our Monterey Five and, more specifically, prove to be totally reprehensible by denying the traumas inflicted by her son on Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley and then trying to steal custody of the twins. Deep breaths.
So the moment FINALLY came when Mary Louise was supposed to get her due a la Mandy Moore in Princess Diaries but it turns out, the scene was cut from the episode!
Though the ice cream was chill, fans were not.

Yes, Mary Louise did get slapped in the face last week, but the ice cream moment looked so much more outrageous. The choice to cut the scene was first revealed on Vanity Fair‘s Still Watching podcast, though they didn’t know or share the reasoning behind the decision.
Things we need: a solution to global warming, more sleep and that deleted scene. Now.
Oh hey 911? I’d like to report a robbery…yes…uh huh…Reese Witherspoon didn’t throw the ice cream at Meryl Streep…sure I’ll hold. pic.twitter.com/3CwSu2nTpL
