Couples share a lot of things, but underwear isn’t usually one of them.
But thanks to a clothing brand called Play Out, that’s all about to change. Co-founders Abby Sugar and Sylvie Lardeux had thought for a long time that the colours and graphics on men’s underwear were “more fun and interesting” than women’s. So they created an underwear line that borrows some of the design elements of men’s undies, such as a wider waistband and extra fabric in the front, and applied them to a unisex garment that can be enjoyed by all.
“In the women’s market, you can find a women’s boxer brief or boy-short cut, but it is generally going to be pastel colors or relatively boring, with solid colors, simple stripes or polka dots,” Sugar told the Daily Mail. “We wanted to have underwear that was not only flattering and fit well, but also exciting to wear, with interesting and cool graphic designs.”
The underwear comes in two varieties: trunks and boxer briefs. The boxer briefs have a flat-stiched front and no open fly, making them a better fit for women’s bodies. Trunks are a little longer, with extra fabric on the front, making them more ideal for guys.
If you’re interested, Play Out’s unisex underwear could be yours for as little as $24 for the boxer briefs, and $28 for the trunks.
Just make sure you wash those bad boys in hot water before sharing, or you’ll be swapping a lot more than just underwear.
