It’s official: Canada has the best neighbour ever.
Sure, we might not agree with the U.S. on everything, but when it comes down to it, Canadians and Americans have each other’s back. For example, do you remember a few months ago when the mic cut out at a Toronto Maple Leafs-Nashville Predators game, and the gracious Canadian fans in the room finished singing “The Star-Spangled Banner”?
Well, yesterday, Americans returned the favour. The mic didn’t break this time when the Leafs were about to faceoff against the Predators at Bridgestone Arena, but the anthem singer took a break to let the crowd belt out a couple of verses anyway. And honestly, for Americans, it was a pretty touching rendition of “O Canada”.
Unfortunately for the Leafs though, they lost the game 4-3. As for the time Canadian fans sung the American anthem? Karma apparently didn’t pay off then either, as the Leafs still lost with an abysmal final score of 9-2. And that, friends, rounds the team out to a nice 10 straight losses in a row.
Go Leafs go!
