After last night’s Emmy Awards, there were unfortunately some questions over the actor’s pulse-status.

The confusion began when Julia Louis-Dreyfus won her fifth consecutive Emmy for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as commander-in-chief Selina Meyer. The comedian accepted her award during an emotional and tearful speech, at the end revealing that her father William Louis-Dreyfus, who loved watching her in Veep, had passed away on Friday.

Fans took to Twitter to offer the condolences to the Emmy winner, but things got a little weird when actor Richard Dreyfuss was labeled as Louis-Dreyfus’ late father. That’s Dreyfuss, not Dreyfus. A subtle, yet very important difference.

The Jaws, Goodbye Girl and Mr. Holland’s Opus star quickly took to Twitter and corrected the mistake, just as someone who is still totally alive would do.

Dreyfuss with two ‘s’ took the opportunity to point out that he’s yet to win an Emmy Award, but did remind the world that he’s taken home an Oscar.

The still-living actor was likely watching last night’s show to root for his Cas and Dylan co-star Tatiana Maslany, who finally won an Emmy for her groundbreaking role(s) in Orphan Black. We’re sure Dreyfuss is a member of the clone club.
