It was earlier this year that Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra Silva welcomed their first child together. And it seems like they’re about to be blessed again. That’s right, just nine months after giving birth, it’s being reported that Alejandra is expecting their second child.
According to Hello! magazine’s sister publication, HOLA!, the actor and his wife are expecting their second child less than a year after the birth of their son, Alexander. Richard and Alejandra had reportedly known each other for years before they began dating in 2014. They secretly wed in April 2018 and their son arrived 10 months later. That seems like a wild enough ride for the 70-year-old actor and his 36-year-old wife, but evidently they like a challenge. Plus, they’re technically still newlyweds (new-ish-weds?) so, hey, things happen. This will be Richard’s second child with Alejandra, but the Pretty Woman star and the Spanish publicist have children from previous relationships. Richard is father to Homer, 19, whom he shares with ex-wife Carey Lowell, while Alejandra and her ex-husband, Govind Friedland, share six-year-old son Albert.
While congratulations appear to be in order, the joyous news has yet to be confirmed by Richard or Alejandra. And it likely won’t be — reports circulated with their first pregnancy, but it took Alejandra months to announce the news, which she did in December of last year. The caption was simple: “Soy muy feliz! … I’m so happy!” with the hashtag #happygirl.
Richard and Alejandra shared their wedding photos with Hello!, and told the magazine at the time, “I feel like I’m in a true fairytale. Without a doubt, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world.”
Gere, who kept sending Silva flowers until she agreed to go out with him, added: “I’m the happiest man in the universe. How could I not be? I’m married to a beautiful woman who is smart, sensitive, committed to helping people, who’s fun, patient, who knows how to forgive, who’s a great cook – and who makes the best salads in the world!”
Happy? Check. Healthy? Check. Babies, plural? Checkity check! Watch out, Alec and Hilaria. Richard and Alejandra may catch up to you yet.
