When you have as much talent as Rihanna, it’s just selfish to keep it to yourself. The world needs to hear that voice. Riri is pretty good at putting out new music regularly (you hear that, Taylor?) but something we don’t see too often is her acting. We saw it in Battleship (remember when they made a movie based on a Hasbro game?) and then again in This is the End (when she gave Michael Cera a slap that was heard across the world), and then every time she’s with Drake (poor Drake just wants her love). But now she’s checking into the small screen to play an iconic role in her biggest scripted acting gig yet.
At Comic Con this weekend, Rihanna herself announced with a quick video that she’s going to be on the next (and final) season of Bates Motel (the prequel series to the book/movie Psycho) playing none other than Marion Crane. Unexpected? Yes. Are we excited? HECK yes.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Marion Crane is the woman at the beginning of Psycho who is murdered in the infamous shower stabbing scene, you know the one (sorry if we spoiled it, but you’ve had 56 years to see the movie).
The producers said they want to ‘thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way.’ We definitely think Rihanna will redefine the role. In fact, we’re not really sure what to expect at all. We’re excited though. Very excited. Let’s see those acting chops, Riri.
