In a revealing new interview with her Ocean’s 8 co-star Sarah Paulson for Interview Magazine, Rihanna is opening up about her next album (“I’m working on a really fun one right now”), her secret to juggling multiple projects at once (“I have sleep pockets”), and her newfound commitment to nurturing her personal relationships (“You need to make time for yourself”). And yes, one of those relationships is romantic.

As one of the most famous singers in the world, nine-time Grammy winner Rihanna already has a packed schedule. Her Fenty beauty and lingerie lines continue to dominate their markets, and now Rihanna is once again expanding her empire with a new luxury fashion brand with LVMH. She continues to appear as part of her multiple spokesperson deals, and the latest release in a burgeoning film career was a starring role alongside Donald Glover in 2019’s Guava Island. Throw in a few weekly trips to the recording studio to work on her follow-up to 2016’s Anti and you would think Rihanna barely had time to sleep, let alone have a personal life. But after 15 years in the entertainment business, RiRi appears to have found her work-life balance.

Visiting friends and family in her native Barbados while speaking to Paulson, Rihanna admitted that she didn’t always make time for her personal life but had recently made it a priority. “It’s only the last couple years that I started to realize that you need to make time for yourself, because your mental health depends on it,” she says. “If you’re not happy, you’re not going to be happy even doing things that you love doing. It’d feel like a chore. I never want work to feel like a chore. My career is my purpose, and it should never feel like anything other than a happy place. I’ve made little things a big deal, like going for a walk or going to the grocery store.”

We can’t imagine running into Rihanna in front of the cereal display, but we love that the superstar is putting her health and personal life first. According to the singer, this personal life also includes a romantic relationship. So, she won’t be in the cereal aisle alone. “I got into a new relationship, and it matters to me. It was like, ‘I need to make time for this.'”

While the bad gal doesn’t get specific about her relationship (“Google it”) fans assume she’s speaking about rumoured boyfriend Hassan Jameel. The pair were first spotted together in June 2017 and have kept their relationship low-key, like real low-key especially considering she’s one of the most successful and famous celebrities in the world and he’s a billionaire businessman.

Saying she now marks her personal days on her calendar with a capital ‘P,’ Paulson and Rihanna continued to get (P)ersonal. Asking whether she’s in love, Rihanna responded, “Of course I am,” before taking an extended pause when Paulson followed up with a question about a possible wedding in the future. “Only god knows that, girl,” said Rihanna. “We plan and god laughs, right?”

Rihanna was more straightforward with her feelings on children, saying she wants to be a mother, “More than anything in life.” We’re already picturing a Fenty baby line and it’s the coolest and fiercest thing we can imagine.
