Are you an expert driver? Do you have professional driving experience, have a full, clean U.K. driving license, can master the Royal Driving Route while having alternate, safe, efficient routes in your back pocket, all whilst remaining calm under pressure? Then Buckingham Palace wants to talk to you!
The Royal Household is seeking a new chauffeur for The Queen. Honk if this sounds like a dream gig.
According to the posting, the job requires that the chauffeur would drive Her Majesty, other members of the Royal Family, household officials and guests. He/she would be part of a busy team, ensuring that the vehicles (which include the Queen’s two Bentleys and fleet of both Land and Range Rovers) are well-maintained and kept to a high standard of presentation.
The chauffeur, who is a good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will also assist with the daily administration and management of the Royal Mews Garage, which holds all the coaches and cars for State and official occasions. It’s also the department that is responsible for caring for and training the Queen’s carriage horses.
The annual salary is £24,000 ($46,000). It’s a live-in position (that’s deducted from your salary), meals are provided, comes with benefits and pension and, best of all, the lucky candidate gets 33 vacation days each year.
Er, excuse us while we go practice driving on the opposite side of the road, update our resumé and send it to the Palace.
