Back in December the world went crazy over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s official engagement photos. The man behind the lens has revealed just how amazing it was to capture the beautiful royal moment.

Alexi Lubomirski revealed to E!News that the whole arrangement was actually made possible because of social media.

“It was nutty. It was a very surreal end to the year because it came out of nowhere,” explained Lubomirski. “I think one of Meghan’s friends saw me on Instagram that I was in England during the announcement of the engagement and I was told later that this person said to her, ‘You should meet Alexi. He’s great. You’d love him’ and that was it.”

Though he has photographed big name stars including Julia Roberts, Gloria Steinem and Keira Knightley, the royal couple was actually his first engagement photo shoot. However, he said it was easy because of how in love they are.

“It was one of the easiest, most joyful jobs because they were so deliciously in love,” he said. “Just be yourselves and I will take pictures of you,” is the direction he gave Harry and Meghan.

His wife also couldn’t help but praise her husband’s accomplishment saying, “I was so incredibly proud of my husband and I couldn’t think of anyone better than him because he’s a romantic at heart.”

The shoot has also given them more than just international recognition – he and his wife both received invites to the wedding on May 19th, though he admits he was not asked to photograph it. But we kind of think he might have been invited anyway.
