Ruby Rose quits Twitter

The online trolls are real, especially when it comes to beloved fandoms. Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black) experienced that firsthand this weekend following news that she’s been named the new lead in The CW’s Batwoman. She’s playing Kate Kane, the first lesbian superhero to headline her own series, and some hardcore genre lovers were not shy about voicing their displeasure over that fact.

Well the online hate got too hard for Rose, and she finally joined the likes of Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown and Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Kelly Marie Tran, and shut down her Twitter account—at least until things calm down.

“Where on earth did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can’t be Batwoman’ come from – has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read,” Rose wrote before deleting her profile. “I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with ‘she’s too gay’ how do y’all flip it like that? I didn’t change.”

Thankfully, true fans of the actress can continue following her on Instagram, where she remains active. Just don’t expect to be able to comment on her posts—she’s limited that setting to those she follows back.

Bethenny Frankel’s boyfriend died of an apparent overdose

It wasn’t a good weekend for Real Housewives of New York star/Skinnygirl cocktail creator Bethenny Frankel. On Friday her on-again, off-again boyfriend Dennis Shields died from an apparent overdose in his Trump Tower home, and now some people who really should know better are wondering if her words on the latest episode of her Bravo show are to blame for his reported tailspin.

Although it will take up to six weeks for the toxicology reports to come in, Shields asked his assistant to give him Narcan, an emergency opioid antidote, before first responders arrived on scene, which certainly hints at an opioid overdose. Where Frankel comes in? Well, it’s a reach.

Leading up to his death Shields had been raving about Frankel and what a great place they were in as a couple, but then on Wednesday’s new episode Frankel told co-housewife Dorinda Medley that she could never actually live with Shields. This tangential, reality TV connection is apparently enough to get people jumping on the ‘blame Bethenny’ bandwagon, because that’s the world we live in right now.

Lilo retracts her latest controversial statement

These days it seems like everyone in Hollywood is supporting the #MeToo movement, and finally talking about how it’s time to support the women who have felt silenced for far too long. Well, almost everybody that is.

In a recent interview with the UK’s The Times, Lindsay Lohan made it clear that she has some alternative thoughts on the subject, calling women who come forward after the fact “weak.”

“If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment. You make it a real thing by making it a police report,” she said. “I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women.”

Well, she was right on one count — she probably hates herself for those comments. That has to be why she’s now retracting her musings and apologizing for all the hard feelings they’ve caused.

“I would like to unreservedly apologize for any hurt and distress caused by a quote in a recent interview with The Times,” the actress told People in a statement. “The quote solely related to my hope that a handful of false testimonies out of a tsunami of heroic voices do not serve to dilute the importance of the #MeToo movement, and all of us who champion it. However, I have since learned how statements like mine are seen as hurtful, which was never my intent. I’m sorry for any pain I may have caused.”

Gee. Well we’re glad that’s out of the way, huh?

Kanye says he’d “smash” his sisters-in-law

It wouldn’t be a day that ends in “Y” if Kanye West weren’t in the news for one reason or another. And this weekend was no exception. While most of the Kardashian-Jenner clan was out celebrating Kylie’s big 21st birthday, West was busy dropping disturbing tunes.

The artist released a brand new track Saturday morning on Twitter, “XTCY,” and aside from his thoughts on the drug for which the song is named he also included a line about his sisters-in-law, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie.

“You got sick thoughts? I got more of ’em / You got a sister-in-law you would smash? I got four of them,” he says, noting he needs a bigger hot tub.

Obviously something has Yeezy hot and bothered this weekend. New song aside, he also told Jimmy Kimmel about his preferred porn, which led to immediate offers to direct his own adult film. Because, naturally.

The Yeezy train continues.

Erika Christensen has a DIY delivery

If you want something done right, do it yourself… unless it’s delivering a baby. In that case it’s probably best to leave it to the professionals, don’t ya think? Actress Erika Christensen (Parenthood) and her husband Cole Maness certainly thought so, but then as most baby deliveries go, nothing went according to plan when Christensen went into labour Friday morning.

The actress called the doctor a little too late, and even though he came over straightaway, he — along with Christensen’s mom — were a minute too late; Maness had already delivered baby Polly by himself.

“You should’ve seen their faces when they walked in to hear her little wail,” Christensen wrote on Instagram. “Mom immediately took this picture. So epic.”

This is one case where we’ll go ahead and note the appropriate use of the word epic. Meanwhile, mazel tov to the second-time parents, and a friendly reminder that it’s probably not a great idea to try DIY deliveries at home, kids.
